Meet Your Queens Botox Specialist: Dr. Michael Paltiel, MD

Board-Certified Dermatologist with 17 Years of Experience

Johns Hopkins Training, Forest Hills Expertise Dr. Michael Paltiel is a board-certified dermatologist with 17 years of experience in medical and cosmetic dermatology. He completed his medical education at Johns Hopkins Medical School and his residency at the University of Maryland, bringing elite training to patients throughout Queens.

Botox in Queens at Adult and Pediatric Dermatology is a same-visit treatment performed by board-certified dermatologists in our Forest Hills office. We administer Botox for cosmetic concerns such as forehead lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, and bunny lines, as well as for medical uses including masseter jaw slimming, TMJ pain relief, chronic migraines, and excessive sweating. Our lead provider, Dr. Michael Paltiel, MD, has performed Botox injections in Queens for more than 17 years.

What sets us apart is the dermatologist behind the syringe. Most Botox in Queens is administered by injectors who are not dermatologists. At our practice, every Botox plan starts with a dermatologic skin assessment, so we treat the underlying skin and the wrinkle pattern together rather than just the muscle. We use FDA-approved neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau) and choose the right one for your facial anatomy and budget. Same-day appointments are available, and we work with you on transparent unit-based pricing.

What is Botox®? Understanding Wrinkle Relaxers

How Botox Smooths Wrinkles

Botox is an FDA-approved injectable made from a purified form of botulinum toxin type A. It relaxes targeted facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles, the lines formed from years of smiling, frowning, and squinting [1]. When those overworked muscles relax, the overlying skin smooths. The result is rested, still expressive, no surgery, no downtime. Botulinum toxin remains the most-performed minimally invasive cosmetic procedure in the United States, with millions of treatments delivered each year [2]. The mechanism is well documented across decades of peer-reviewed research [4].

Treatment Areas at Our Forest Hills Clinic

We treat the full range of dynamic-wrinkle areas. Each area uses a tailored unit count and injection pattern based on muscle strength and the patient's goal: - Forehead lines (frontalis): smooth horizontal forehead creases - Frown lines or "Elevens" (glabella): relax the vertical "11" between the brows - Crow's feet (orbicularis oculi): soften the lines that fan out from the outer corners of the eyes - Bunny lines (nasalis): relax the small crinkles along the bridge of the nose when smiling - Brow lift: raise the outer brow with strategic injections under the tail of the eyebrow - Lip flip (orbicularis oris): gently roll the upper lip outward for a fuller appearance - Masseter (jawline slimming): see the dedicated section below for cosmetic and TMJ uses - Neck bands (platysma): soften the vertical bands that show on the neck with age - Nefertiti lift: strategic Botox along the jawline and platysma to lift the lower face and address sagging or laxity, named for the elegant jawline of Queen Nefertiti - Trapezius: relaxes the upper-shoulder muscles to lengthen the neck, ease shoulder tension, and refine posture

Preventative Botox for Your 20s and 30s

Wondering if you're too young for Botox? Dr. Paltiel confirms that preventative treatments, sometimes called "Baby Botox," are appropriate for patients in their 20s and 30s. Starting early can help prevent deep lines from forming in the first place. "Is Botox a good option for forehead lines if I'm in my early 30s? Yes," confirms Dr. Paltiel.

Your Botox Options: Choosing the Right Neurotoxin in Queens

Neurotoxin Brands We Offer

Not all wrinkle relaxers are identical. At Adult and Pediatric Dermatology, we offer three neurotoxin options to match your specific needs:

Botox and Dysport are what Dr. Paltiel reaches for most often; Daxxify rounds out the menu for patients who want longer intervals between visits.

Botox: The original and most recognized brand, trusted for consistent results and decades of clinical use.

Dysport: Known for a slightly faster onset, Dysport spreads naturally across larger treatment areas like the forehead.

Daxxify: The newest FDA-approved option, Daxxify can provide longer-lasting results for some patients, potentially extending time between treatments.

During your consultation, your provider will evaluate your facial anatomy and discuss which neurotoxin best fits your goals, lifestyle, and treatment history.

Benefits of Botox

Botox does one thing well: it tells overactive muscles to rest. That single mechanism unlocks both cosmetic and medical wins.

  • Smooths dynamic wrinkles between the brows, across the forehead, and at the corners of the eyes
  • Lifts the outer brow with a few precisely placed units under the eyebrow tail
  • Slims a square jaw when injected into the masseter muscle [1]
  • Reduces TMJ pain and nighttime grinding by relaxing the same masseter muscle
  • Cuts migraine frequency for patients diagnosed with chronic migraine
  • Stops underarm sweating for several months at a time, an FDA-approved use for hyperhidrosis
  • No anesthesia, no downtime, typical visit runs about 15 minutes
  • Reversible by design. If you don’t love the result, it fades on its own in 3 months

The bullet list is what Botox can do. Whether it’s right for you is what the consultation is for.

Ideal Candidates for Botox

Botox suits a wider range of patients than most people realize. The right candidate isn’t a specific age, it’s someone whose goals fit what the treatment actually does.

You’re likely a good candidate if:

  • You’ve started seeing the same line in the mirror you used to only see in photos
  • You’re in your late 20s or 30s and want to slow down how deep those lines get (preventative or “Baby Botox”)
  • You wake up with a sore jaw or hear about your grinding from a partner
  • You get more than a few migraines a month and want a non-pill option
  • You’ve tried antiperspirant for underarm sweating and it isn’t enough
  • You want a result that’s reversible if you change your mind

Botox is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in patients with certain neuromuscular conditions (such as myasthenia gravis or ALS), or in patients with active skin infection at the planned injection site [1]. Dr. Paltiel will go through your medical history at the consultation. If Botox isn’t right for you, he’ll say so and walk you through alternatives.

Personal Consultation with Dr. Michael Paltiel, MD

Dr. Michael Paltiel, MD is a board-certified dermatologist with 17 years in medical and cosmetic dermatology. He trained at Johns Hopkins Medical School and completed his residency at the University of Maryland. The practice approach is personalized and comprehensive: every Botox plan starts with a real conversation about what you want and what your skin actually needs.

Your consultation runs about 20 minutes. Dr. Paltiel will:

  • Map your muscle pattern in motion (he’ll ask you to frown, raise your brows, smile)
  • Ask about past injectable history, what you liked, what you didn’t
  • Review your medical history, medications, and any contraindications
  • Recommend a unit count and which neurotoxin (Botox, Dysport, or Daxxify) fits your anatomy
  • Quote your unit count up front, no surprises at checkout

If you’d rather see one of our other providers, the team includes Zina Goldvekht, PA-C, Aleksey Babakhanov, FNP, and John Perrotti, MD (Plastic Surgery). All injectables at our Forest Hills office are performed by board-certified or board-eligible specialists. We’d rather you take 30 minutes to decide than 30 seconds.

Corresponding and Complementary Procedures

Botox handles the muscle. It doesn’t handle volume loss, skin texture, or fat distribution. Patients getting their best Botox results often pair it with one or two of these:

  • Dermal Fillers for cheek, lip, or under-eye volume. Botox softens the lines that form from movement; fillers add back the volume that fades with age. The two are often planned together at the same consult.
  • Microneedling to improve skin texture, fine lines, and post-acne scarring. Pairs well with Botox in patients who want both wrinkle relaxing and surface refinement.
  • Chemical Peels for sun damage, dullness, and tone. A peel resurfaces; Botox holds the relaxed muscle pattern underneath.
  • Skin Rejuvenation options including IPL and laser for redness, brown spots, and overall radiance.
  • CoolSculpting and EmSculpt for body contouring (separate concerns from facial Botox, but commonly part of the same patient’s plan).
  • PDO Threadlift for patients who want a non-surgical lift in addition to wrinkle relaxing.

Dr. Paltiel will recommend pairings that fit your goals at the consultation. We don’t upsell what you don’t need.

Medical Botox in Forest Hills: Beyond Cosmetic Treatment

Therapeutic Uses for TMJ, Migraines, and Hyperhidrosis

Botox offers relief for several medical conditions beyond wrinkle reduction. Dr. Paltiel confirms the practice treats all of the following:

TMJ and Teeth Grinding: Botox injections into the masseter muscle can relieve jaw tension, reduce grinding, and slim the lower face.

Chronic Migraines: For patients who experience frequent migraines, therapeutic Botox can help reduce headache frequency and intensity.

Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis): Underarm Botox blocks the nerve signals that trigger sweat glands, providing months of relief from embarrassing perspiration.

If you’re interested in medical Botox for any of these conditions, our dermatologists can discuss treatment options during your consultation at our Queens office.

Masseter Botox in Forest Hills (Jaw Slimming and TMJ Relief)

Masseter Botox targets the masseter muscle on either side of the jaw. At Adult and Pediatric Dermatology in Forest Hills, Dr. Michael Paltiel, MD performs masseter Botox for two patient groups: those who want a softer, more tapered jawline, and those who grind their teeth at night or live with chronic TMJ pain. Both groups respond to the same injection technique, dosed for the patient’s muscle bulk and goal.

What Masseter Botox Does

The masseter is one of the strongest muscles in the body. Repeated clenching, chewing, and grinding can build up the masseter over time, giving the lower face a wider, more angular look. Masseter Botox relaxes the muscle, which over four to six weeks reduces its size. Patients see a softer jaw contour without surgery and without changing how they chew or speak.

TMJ Pain, Bruxism, and Jaw Clenching Relief

For patients with TMJ disorder or nighttime bruxism, masseter Botox offers a non-surgical option that complements (or in some cases replaces) a night guard. By relaxing the muscle, the injection eases jaw tension, reduces morning soreness, and helps prevent the headaches that come from chronic clenching. Most patients feel measurable functional relief within seven to ten days. Cosmetic jawline change appears around four to six weeks.

Masseter Botox uses more units per side than standard cosmetic Botox (typically 20 to 30 per side), so the visit takes a few extra minutes. Pricing follows the same transparent unit rate as our other Botox services. To learn whether masseter Botox fits your goals, schedule a consultation with Dr. Paltiel.

Your Botox Experience: What to Expect at Our Forest Hills Office

Before Your Appointment

Preparation is simple. Dr. Paltiel recommends taking zinc for one week prior to your Botox appointment, as this may help increase the longevity of your results. Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil for several days before treatment to minimize bruising risk.

During Your Treatment

A typical Botox appointment takes approximately 15 minutes. Your provider will cleanse the treatment areas and use a fine needle to inject small, precise amounts of neurotoxin into targeted muscles. Most patients describe the sensation as a brief pinch. No anesthesia is required, though we can apply a topical numbing cream for sensitive patients.

After Your Injections

Post-treatment care is straightforward. Dr. Paltiel advises patients to follow these guidelines: Avoid laying down for 4 hours after injections. Skip alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Do not rub or massage the treated areas. You can return to work and normal activities immediately after leaving our Forest Hills clinic.

Results Timeline

You may notice initial softening within a few days, but full Botox results develop over time. Expect to see your complete results in up to 2 weeks. Results typically last 3 months before muscle activity gradually returns. The practice offers follow-up appointments at two weeks to assess your results and make any adjustments if needed.
